Road Closure and Construction Alerts

Project Description
The Brea Canyon Road Grade Separation Project will eliminate traffic delays at the train tracks and potential collisions with trains by constructing a railroad bridge and roadway underpass. Brea Canyon Road will be lowered as well as Washington Street and Currier Road at their intersection with Brea Canyon Road. The new road will pass below the railroad tracks and include pedestrian and motorist safety improvements, walkways, and landscaping.

Project Status
The Brea Canyon Road Grade Separation construction contract was awarded in March 2006, and construction began in July 2006. Mass excavation has been completed. The railroad bridge is completing construction. The cost of this project is estimated at $65.1 million.

Project Impacts
Brea Canyon Road will be completely closed until approximately late summer 2008. Park-and-ride commuters can access the Metrolink station parking lot via Currier Rd. to Spanish Lane. Through traffic has been diverted to the following north-south streets: Fairway Drive, Lemon Avenue and Grand Avenue.
