JUMP START PROJECTS

Jump-Start safety upgrade program improvements at 39 grade crossings along the 35-mile ACE corridor have been completed. “Jump-Start” improvements are designed to increase safety and reduce congestion at these grade crossings. Construction of new medians to prevent motorists from driving around safety gates, construction of new sidewalks, installation of railroad and traffic signal measures, pedestrian safety and road restriping improvements have been completed at all of the ACE project grade crossings in the City of Industry. Construction of safety improvements at Stimson Avenue and Bixby Drive was completed in June 2001 and completed at Vineland Avenue in July 2001. Turnbull Canyon Road, Fairway Drive (UP), Lemon Avenue (UP), Temple Avenue and Workman Mill Road projects were completed in October 2002. California Avenue, Fullerton Road (UP), Brea Canyon Road (SP), Mission Mill Road, Rose Hill Road and Puente Avenue were completed in December 2002.

GRADE SEPARATIONS UNDERWAY IN THE CITY OF INDUSTRY

Construction is completed at the first three out of twenty ACE grade separation projects. Construction is underway or funded at seven more. These major construction projects will depress the roadway or elevate the train tracks to physically separate rail and vehicle traffic at the most heavily congested rail crossings. The following three grade separation projects will be constructed in the City of Industry:

NOGALES ST. (Alh) - Construction of the $49.5 million grade separation project began in summer 2003 and was completed on schedule, opening to traffic on August 28, 2005
BREA CANYON RD. (LA) - The construction contract was awarded in March 2006 and construction began in July 2006. The cost of this project is estimated at $65.1 million.
SUNSET AVE/ORANGE AVE. - Construction began in January 2007, to be completed in Summer 2010. The cost is estimated at $76.9 million.

GRADE SEPARATIONS NOT STARTED IN THE CITY OF INDUSTRY

There are five proposed grade separation projects for the City of Industry (pending funding approval) at the following locations:

TURNBULL CANYON RD. (UP) - Construction schedule to be determined.
ROSE HILLS RD. (UP) - Construction schedule to be determined.
FAIRWAY DR. (UP) - Construction schedule to be determined.
FAIRWAY DR. - Construction schedule to be determined.
PUENTE AVE. (SP) - Construction schedule to be determined.
