CHIEF ENGINEER/DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority is seeking a motivated Chief Engineer/Deputy Chief Executive Officer to support the Chief Executive Officer and supervise Senior Project Managers responsible for design, construction management and other professional services necessary for the implementation of the Alameda Corridor-East Program.
SALARY RANGE: $185,000-220,000 annually
BENEFITS INCLUDE: CalPERS 2% @ 55, comparable med/dental/vision plans with modest employee contribution. Employee-sponsored Aflac and 457 deferred compensation. Free on-site gym access.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: support the CEO in overall management of the Authority and acts as CEO in his/her absence;
Supervises senior project managers responsible for professional services and construction contractors on assigned projects;
Supports project management staff in consultant selection processes, developing scopes of services and forming evaluation committees;
Oversee project management staff to ensure that project design and construction meet established objectives and agreed upon requirements of local jurisdictions and the UPRR;
Supervises the development of and meeting project schedules and budgets;
Represents Authority at public events, with elected officials, organizations and the public;
Manage project management support consultants performing various aspects of project management serviced (design reviews, contract administration, project control and reporting systems, ROW acquisition, utility relocation coordination, construction safety, etc.) and
Ensures that the Authority’s safety plan is enforced through monitoring reporting procedures and spot checks in the field.
QUALIFICATIONS: Registered California Professional Engineer, Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering; minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation design and/or construction; experience in civil design/construction, railroad construction or traffic signalization is particularly relevant.
Demonstrated skills in project management and working with consultants, local jurisdiction and railroads is important.
