JUMP START PROJECTS
Jump-Start safety upgrade program improvements at 39 grade crossings along the 35-mile ACE corridor have been completed. “Jump-Start” improvements are designed to increase safety and reduce congestion at these grade crossings. Construction of new medians and installation of four quadrant crossing gates to prevent motorists from driving around safety gates, construction of new sidewalks, installation of railroad and traffic signal measures, pedestrian safety and road restriping improvements have been completed at all of the ACE project grade crossings in the City of Pomona. Construction of safety improvements at Park Avenue, Palomares Street, Hamilton Boulevard, Main Street and San Antonio Avenue was completed in January 2004.
WHAT IS THE INTELLIGENT ROADWAY/RAIL INTERFACE SYSTEM (IR/RIS)?
The IR/RIS is a pilot program in Pomona to utilize new technologies that improve train control and detection to better control traffic and reduce motorist delay. There are four grade crossings in which the implementation of IR/RIS improvements will take place: Hamilton Boulevard, Park Avenue, Palomares Street and San Antonio Avenue. The system is currently in testing stage.

The following three grade separation projects will be constructed in Pomona:
EAST END AVE. & RESERVOIR ST. - Construction began in Summer 2004 at an estimated cost of $71.4 million. The Reservoir St portion of the project opened to traffic in December 2006..
