WHAT:

The Alameda Corridor-East Construction Authority (ACE) will begin construction on the Sunset Ave. Grade Separation project at the railroad crossing in the City of Industry. The project will elevate Union Pacific Railroad tracks on an embankment immediately west of California Ave. to east of Puente Ave. with trains carried on bridges over Sunset and Orange Aves. Upon completion, traffic congestion, potential collisions with trains and noise from train horns from the mainline track will be eliminated.
              

Major construction will commence on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 with the closure of California Ave. at Valley Blvd. for approximately eleven months. After California Ave. is reopened, Sunset Ave. and Orange Ave. will be closed at Valley Blvd. for approximately 24 months. The northernmost lane of westbound Valley Boulevard will be closed for the duration of construction. Most construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Project completion is expected in Winter 2009/2010.
                   

California, Sunset and Orange Aves. will be closed to pedestrian and vehicular through traffic at Valley Blvd. (See detour map on reverse). The northernmost lane of Valley Boulevard will be closed for construction from California Ave. to Puente Ave. Both northernmost lanes of Valley Boulevard will be closed near California, Sunset and Orange Aves. At least two traffic lanes will remain open in each direction of Valley Blvd. Access to local businesses be maintained. Noise, dust and vibration will be monitored for compliance with applicable limits.

California Ave. will be closed starting Winter 2006/07 and reopen approximately eleven months later. Sunset and Orange Aves. are recommended detour routes. Access to businesses on California, Sunset, Orange and Nelson Aves. will remain open during construction. Valley Blvd. and Nelson Ave. will remain open.
