Project Description
The Sunset Avenue Grade Separation Project will elevate the Union Pacific Railroad tracks over Sunset Avenue and Orange Avenue in the City of Industry. ACE will build two bridges over Sunset Avenue and Orange Avenue, retaining walls, mainline railroad tracks over embankment, tracks to provide access to industries, and landscaping. Upon completion of construction, traffic wait times and horn noise from trains on the mainline track will be eliminated.

Project Status
Major construction activities began in January 2007 with the closure of California Ave. followed in the summer by the closure of a northern lane of Valley Boulevard. During this phase of construction, workers are constructing roadway and railroad realignments and relocating underground utilities. The cost of the project is estimated at $71.1 million.

Project Impacts
California Avenue will reopen in Winter 2007 and then Sunset Avenue and Orange Avenue at Valley Boulevard will close for approximately 30 months for construction. The northernmost lane of westbound Valley Boulevard between 8th Avenue and Puente Avenue will remain closed for the duration of construction. Detour routes will be in place during construction. Sunset Avenue, Orange Avenue and Valley Boulevard will be fully restored upon completion of construction, estimated for Summer 2010.
