Beginning in summer 2005, ACE will commence construction of the new Lanterman Developmental Center Audiology Building, to replace the existing building which is adjacent to the railroad tracks. The new Audiology Building will be located at the intersection of Crescent Drive and Power Avenue on LDC grounds. Construction of this facility will take approximately 10 months.

Sound Wall Construction: Summer 2005 - Spring 2006 (9 months approx.)

Soundwall barriers will be constructed between the train tracks and Lanterman Developmental Center in designated areas along Lanterman Developmental Center grounds. Soundwalls will be built at five primary locations. Two of these sound walls will be built along the east side of the Union Pacific tracks, north of State Street adjacent to Building 3 and a 500-foot-long sound wall along the west side of the Union Pacific tracks north of State Street. Additional soundwalls will be built on the south side of State Street particularly near the vicinity of Building 6, the Rustic Camp and Richardson Park. Soundwall construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2006.

State Street Underpass: Spring 2006 - Summer 2007 (15 months approx.)

In Spring 2006, the contractor is expected to begin construction of the State Street bridge on LDC property. Construction will include utility relocations, excavation, shoring and constructing of retaining walls. Contractor will prepare and implement traffic handling plans to identify detour routes, signing and barricade locations and other traffic control elements related to the State Street Bridge construction and coordinate with LDC and traffic directors. During construction, one lane of traffic will be closed and a flagman will be provided to direct traffic. Both lanes will be re-opened to traffic after construction hours.
