JUMP START PROJECTS
Jump-Start safety upgrade program improvements at 39 grade crossings along the 35-mile ACE corridor have been completed. “Jump-Start” improvements are designed to increase safety and reduce congestion at these grade crossings. Construction of new medians to prevent motorists from driving around safety gates, construction of new sidewalks, installation of railroad and traffic signal measures, pedestrian safety and road restriping improvements have been completed at one ACE project grade crossing near the City of West Covina. Construction of safety improvements at Fairway (UP) was completed in October 2002.
GRADE SEPARATIONS UNDERWAY IN THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
Construction is completed at the first three out of twenty ACE grade separation projects. Construction is underway or funded at seven more out of the twenty. These major construction projects will depress the roadway or elevate the train tracks to physically separate rail and vehicle traffic at the most heavily congested rail crossings. One grade separation project will be constructed in the City of West Covina.
NOGALES ST. (Alh) - Construction of the $49.5 million grade separation project began in Summer 2003 and was completed on schedule, opening to traffic on August 28, 2005.
NOGALES (LA, LA County - ACE Project Funding Design Only) - Design has been completed and project management responsibility transferred to LA County. The cost of the design project is estimated at $6.5 million.
GRADE SEPARATIONS NOT STARTED NEAR THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
